2025 International Exstrophy Conference Videos
The 2025 Annual Exstrophy Conference was held in Boston, MA and proudly hosted in conjunction with Boston Children’s.
These stunning documentaries beautifully capture the stories of our work abroad as part of our Global Care Initiative.
A special thank you to David Pierce for his time and talents in bringing these stories to life.
Sadly, the beginning of Johnson’s story is one of many – there are hundreds of children just like him that are feeling hopeless and helpless. Who are suffering without access to care and treatment. And for every child like Johnson, there are parents feeling the anguish of not being able to properly care for their child.
A-BE-C has committed to a five year initiative designed to treat under-served children and adults in resource poor countries and extend access to surgical interventions and other treatments through the training of physicians in Uganda.
Since 2009, a team of surgeons, anesthesiologists, social workers, and other healthcare providers from hospitals in India and the U.S. have worked together to help more children in Asia and Africa receive the complex surgery necessary to address bladder exstrophy. This video beautifully captures the collaboration between A-BE-C, Civil Hospital, Ahmedabad, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Cincinnati Children’s, Dayton Children’s, and Seattle Children’s, and their efforts to make an impact on the lives of children and families living with exstrophy.
Our Global Care Initiative expanded to Uganda in 2015 and A-BE-C continues to make a difference for BE individuals in resource poor countries.
It is because of your generous donations A-BE-C has helped facilitate surgeries for children with BE in Uganda and flown Ugandan surgeons to India for medical training. But there is still so much that needs to be done.
Whether you’re a patient, family member, clinician, student or supporter, A-BE-C’s growing library of videos are available to provide information not otherwise available to many individuals with exstrophy.
These are provided at no charge to ensure that they are available to anyone who may need them. If you’ve found these to be helpful, please consider a donation to allow us to continue creating new
resources.
